Further, the Queen and her brother seem very noncommittal about fixing the Deadfire's problems. I got off on the right foot with the Queen, and thought she'd be my pick, but as the game progresses you start to see cracks in their history's foundation, as well as their darker side. ![]() The Huana seem nice at first, and can garner a fair amount of sympathy for being the native species in the area. And, naturally, I try to be respectful of my god's desires, even if I don't always agree with her (like when she wanted to blow up a volcano on my new metal giant friends). I'm playing a Priest of Magran who places a lot of emphasis on seeing the good side of people, while also not being a pushover when me and mine are threatened. I've done missions for all of them, and I don't really trust any of them to have their heart in the right place. So, everyone wants me to work for them, but only them. It is much better than the first (which you don't need to play, but doesn't hurt to do so) and feels like Baldur's Gate 2 in so many ways. If anyone is on the fence about picking up this game, if you like expansive RPGs that will take up three dozen or more hours of your time, definitely get this game. Guess that means I'll have to replay as a different class to mix things up. My only problem was I got so used to a specific party setup that I rarely used some of them, especially the side-kick ones. And why could I surrender but I couldn't demand theirs? Much like Caed Nua in the first game, it just feels mediocre.Ĭompanions were enjoyable to me and I loved their banters with one another. Getting into cannon fire exchanges would just leave me with a bunch of wounded crew and a hull/sail that was more heavily damaged than charge and kill. By the end I would just sail straight for my target while taking a few cannon hits, then board and kill. Overall I liked the game, but for all the hype over ship combat it feels kind of lackluster to me. And yes, for those that obsess over achievements, you can get all of them with one play through so long as you save often, don't piss off the factions earlier in the game, and abuse some mechanics in spots. Now to go back to an earlier save and check out the other faction endings. Not sure how fulfilling the ending is from a narrative perspective, but I was definitely thinking as the game built to a climax. Soul Mirror for a 50% Missile Reflect chanceĪnd then on top of it all you have Lay on Hands for a nice big heal if you're in trouble.įinished the game today supporting the Principi and it was an interesting finale. Reinforcing Exhortation for +20 Deflection Inspiring Triumph for a defence bonus whenever you kill your target Inspired Defence for bonus Armor Rating when hit ![]() Yes I'm sure there are builds that have higher over all damage, but the Paladins defenses are legit as well. And since you're unarmed and have spec'd Two Weapon style, and because you have Swift Flurry on, you are critting OFTEN. Then on top of it all, having both Swift Furry and Heartbeat Drumming for a total 60% chance to have a free second attack on crit. Turning Wheel for +5% burn damage per wound Scion of Flame for more penetration for your main FoD attack, which synergizes well with Sworn Rival for a nice damage bonus on your target (plus get the zeal cost returned after target dies) Retribution for a stacking +5% damage for whenever you are hit Rooting Pain for an AoE damage + interrupt whenever you gain wounds - and since the damage output is legit on this guy he gains wounds often. Then the buff to damage through various passives/skills is rediculous. Flames of Devotion comes with a bonus +10, plus Exalted focus (+5, as well as 5% hit to crit), plus Enduring Dance (+3 stacking accuracy over time), plus Uncanny luck (5% hit to crit) There's a couple ways to improve your crit chance on this guys, but basically it's just stack Accuracy. You open every combat with Swift Strikes to get your required inspiration, so his Transcendent Suffering passive is buffed. The Nature Godlike giving him +2 Power Levels right out of the gate is insane. Trying to make this guy a soloable character. ![]() The whole point of the build is to have high crit chance and high defense. Ended up getting a Bleak Walker Paladin / Shattered Pillar Monk (Votary).
